Bear Mountain Solar Home: 4kW MicroBlox Reduces Electrical Costs by +40%
Why Install a Solar Electric System in Victoria?
The owners have wanted to significantly reduce electricity costs and fix their home operating costs into the future. With BC Hydro rate increases of 9% this year, they wanted to offset the increase with less demand for utility power, without sacrificing comfort. They have a well exposed south facing roof that they felt was wasted. As a family they are also conscious of environmental issues. They wanted to make sure their young teenager used sustainable energy is part of his future.
HES supplied this solar system to deliver about 4400 kWh of electricity per year. The system was split across two roof spaces with the panels mounted in landscape to maximize coverage. With Enphase microInverters, the power output of each solar panel is maximized. HES shingle flashings protect the roof from leaks and make roof replacement a simple exercise.
30% of their electrical needs for the next 25 to 30 years. Production of +4,400kWh per year.
