What is Micro-generation?

In January 2009, the Government of Alberta‘s Micro-Generation Regulation came into effect. This regulation is a set of rules that allows Albertans to generate their own environmentally friendly electricity and receive credit for any power they send into the electricity grid, otherwise known as micro-generation.

The Alberta Utilities Commission is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Micro-generation Regulation and has developed the Micro-Generator Application Guidelines to assist micro-generators with the application process.
