“We are honoured to be named 'Canada’s Solar Distributor of the Year' and we will continue to help Canadians adopt solar energy to save on their electricity costs,”
- Dave Egles, President, HES-PV
Toronto, Ontario (PRWEB) December 13, 2013 – The Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA), the national trade association representing approximately 750 solar energy companies throughout Canada, celebrated its leaders and innovators on December 12 at the Solar Canada 2013 Game Changer Awards Gala. The Game Changer Awards recognize significant contributions to the solar industry over the last year, and excellence in service, outstanding leadership, and innovation.
The Canadian Solar Industries Association honoured Victoria-based HES-PV with the “Solar Distributor of the Year” award at the annual Solar Canada Conference.
HES-PV and CanSIA celebrated a record number of solar electric installations in Canada, which industry analysts forecast to reach 3.48 GW by 2018, generating enough energy to power
350,000 homes. HES-PV services the solar system contractor market across Canada. These solar rooftop installation companies allow home owners and businesses to produce electricity on their very own rooftops and ultimately reduce their electrical costs.
HES-PV was founded in 2008 by the former owner of SPS Energy Solutions, Dave Egles. Egles has spent his entire career designing and installing solar electric systems, including the systems to power Coast Guard light stations on both coasts, park facilities in the high arctic, and most recently, rooftop solar system for homes all across Canada. HES-PV’s 74kW solar system for the T’Sou-ke Nations in Sooke, BC also won CanSIA’s Solar Project of the Year in 2009.
“It is great to see Canadians eager to adopt rooftop solar systems at this incredible rate”
“Despite the low electricity prices in Canada, the trend to take control of rising energy costs is made much easier for consumers since solar electric power has become so affordable. Residential solar system prices have dropped by 40% in the past 3 years due to the global solar boom, and more and more Canadians are taking advantage of this wonderful technology.”
“We are especially pleased to be recognized by CanSIA for service excellence. Our team of 25 dedicated solar professionals are helping Canadian businesses install better, cheaper, and more reliable solar systems. This award shows their hard work is paying off”.
The renewable energy sector has enormous potential to reduce energy costs for residences and commercial operations, and to produce quality, well paid, jobs in all regions of British Columbia.
According to Andrew Weaver, British Columbia MLA, clean energy is an important driver of a resilient and sustainable economy for the 21st century. “I am delighted that a constituent Dave Egles and his company HES-PV have received this well-deserved award. I’ve recently toured two of his impressive installations in the riding of Oak Bay Gordon Head. Across British Columbia, clean technology companies have the potential to stimulate BC’s economy through innovation and job creation. This is a sector that deserves much greater support from all levels of government as we transition towards a resilient and sustainable 21st century economy”.
